Plankton, physical, chemical, and microbiological data, were taken fro
m the polluted reservoir El Niagara during 1990. Chlorella spp and Eug
lena spp were the dominant phytoplankters. Zooplankton diversity and d
ensity were low: Brachionus spp, Asplanchna sieboldi, Moina affinis an
d Daphnia similis appeared seasonally; protozoans were present all yea
r. Ten years earlier, the water quality and biota of the reservoir, th
en alreay degraded, were much better than today.
