Ge. Pluhar et al., GRANULOSA-CELL TUMOR IN AN OVARIOHYSTERECTOMIZED DOG, Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association, 207(8), 1995, pp. 1063
Tumors may arise from incompletely excised ovarian tissue in dogs. Dog
s with estradiol or progesterone-secreting tumors may have clinical si
gns of persistent estrus or proestrus. Hyperestrogenism can cause derm
atologic changes and suppression of the hematopoietic system. Treatmen
t for dogs with a granulosa cell tumor involves removal of the estroge
n source and blood product and antibiotic administration, as needed.
