Abstract
The influence of an R substituent (CH3, CH2Cl, CCl3) in bridging ligan ds (mu-O(2)CR) on the stability of the highly oxidized state Ir-3(III, III,IV) in trinuclear iridium mu(3)-oxocarboxylates has been studied b y cyclovoltammetry and potentiostatic coulometry in acetonitrile solut ion in the 0-1.5 V potential range. The stability decreases with incre ase in electron acceptor power of R in the order CH3 > CH2Cl > CCl3.
