S. Valliappan et al., ANALYTICAL SOLUTION FOR 2-DIMENSIONAL DYNAMIC CONSOLIDATION IN FREQUENCY-DOMAIN, International journal for numerical and analytical methods in geomechanics, 19(10), 1995, pp. 663-682
An analytical solution to the two-dimensional wave propagation in flui
d-saturated half-space subjected to a strip load with vertical harmoni
c oscillation at the surface is presented. The basic equations have be
en derived on the basis of Blot's linear theory of pore-elasticity and
then solved using Fourier complex transform for the horizontal direct
ion. The importance of a number of soil characteristics including comp
ressibility, degree of saturation and soil permeability has been exami
ned. It is shown that the effect of pore fluid is dominant only for fu
lly saturated soils with incompressible solid grains and low permeabil
ity. For partially saturated, compressible or very permeable soils, th
e stresses would be mainly transferred to solid part and there will be
considerable reduction in pore pressure amplitude.
