R. Lasser et al., THE ANALYTICAL LABORATORY FOR THE JET ACTIVE GAS HANDLING-SYSTEM - INACTIVE COMMISSIONING, Fusion technology, 28(3), 1995, pp. 1033-1038
The Analytical Laboratory (AN) of the JET Active Gas Handling System (
AGHS) is a central facility of the AGHS connected via small bore tubes
to the other AGHS sub-systems. It offers various techniques such as g
as chromatography, mass spectrometry, ionisation chambers, katharomete
rs and calorimetry, to characterise the various gas samples. The detec
tion ranges of the gas chromatograph far the six hydrogen molecules, h
elium, nitrogen and oxygen are from about 100ppm to 100% and for metha
ne, higher hydrocarbons, CO and CO2 from about 10ppm to 100% with a th
ermal conductivity detector and a flame ionisation detector, respectiv
ely. Similar detection ranges can be achieved with the quadrupole and
omegatron mass spectrometers. In addition tritiated hydrogen and hydro
carbons will be detected with flow proportional counter detectors and
ionisation chambers down to the low ppm range. Inactive commissioning
results will be presented.
