Abstract
Treatment of tritiated waste from fusion power reactors has received l ittle attention. Wastes will need detritiation involving isotope swamp ing before disposal, recycling or exemption. Work on detritiation tech niques should consider the isotopic dilution involved as well as decon tamination factor, volume reduction and product homogeneity; for the c ost of tritium recovery from the contaminated water (or hydrogen) prod uced is highest for. tritium levels just above the release limits. Mos t important to the overall costs of tritiated waste disposal are relea se and declassification limits.
