Ts. Azarashvili et al., A LOW-MOLECULAR-WEIGHT CA2-BINDING GLYCOPEPTIDE FROM NUCLEI OF THE MYXOMYCETE PHYSARUM-POLYCEPHALUM(), Biochemistry, 60(8), 1995, pp. 935-938
Electrophoresis followed by autoradiography in the presence of Ca-45(2
+) revealed several Ca2+-binding proteins in Physarum polycephalum nuc
lei (molecular weights 45-50, 20-25, and 6 kD). The low molecular weig
ht Ca2+-binding protein was found to be a glycopeptide. Its concentrat
ion changes in the course of the cell cycle, being increased at the en
d of the S-phase and at the beginning of the G(2)-phase and decreased
during mitosis and in the late G(2)-phase.
