Abstract
alpha-Zein polypeptides have been isolated from total zeins of normal and mutant, at the Opaque-2 gene, A-204 corn seeds by semipreparative isoelectric focusing in polyacrylamide gel in the pH range of 5-8. Hig hly active antisera against seven isolated a-zein polypeptides have be en raised in rabbits, and extensive cross-reaction between the polypep tides has been demonstrated by the enzyme immunoassay technique. The a ntisera were found to react differently with the total zeins of normal and mutant A-204 corn.
