Abstract
The phase diagrams of the binary mixtures of mesogenic potassium iso-b utyrate with non-mesogenic lithium-, sodium-, and caesium iso-butyrate have been investigated by differential thermal analysis and hot stage polarization microscopy. The temperature and concentration ranges of liquid crystal formation have been established. Sodium and caesium iso -butyrate have been found to possess latent mesogenic properties.
