F. Murch et E. Kozik, DEVELOPING WINDOWS APPLICATIONS FOR JAPAN, International journal of computer applications in technology, 8(3-4), 1995, pp. 253-267
The advent of Microsoft Windows has opened up the Japanese market to s
oftware applications developed by non-Japanese vendors. This paper des
cribes what to look for, what tools to use and how to deal with softwa
re development for export to Japan. Success in the Japanese market req
uires: the use of a huge character set called Shift JIS; the use of a
resource file scheme that allows the extraction of the text strings an
d accelerators into a single file; and the use of front end processor
(FEPs).
