E. Otero et al., INFLUENCE OF MICROSTRUCTURE ON THE CORROSION-RESISTANCE OF AISI TYPE 304L AND TYPE 316L SINTERED STAINLESS-STEELS EXPOSED TO FERRIC-CHLORIDE SOLUTION, Materials characterization, 35(3), 1995, pp. 145-151
The corrosion behavior of type 304L and type 316L austenitic stainless
steels, produced by powder metallurgy, when exposed to a ferric chlor
ide solution was studied. The exposures were conducted according to AS
TM G48-76, Method A. The influence of ferric chloride concentration an
d exposure temperature on the corrosion kinetics of these materials wa
s evaluated. A mechanism is proposed to explain the associated morphol
ogy observed in the microstructures produced after exposure of these P
IM alloys to the aggressive medium.
