INERTIAL EFFECTS IN A STEADY-STATE NORMAL VISCOELASTIC-CONTACT PROBLEM

The problem of an axisymmetric indentor on a viscoelastic half-space, subject to a periodic normal load, is considered in the case where dyn amical effects cannot be neglected. The steady-state limit is consider ed, Preliminary findings indicate that there are frequencies of load a pplication where the dynamic correction to the non-inertial expression for the contact pressure is negligible.
