Abstract
We present a calculation of the nuclear level density omega(ph)(E) for a fixed number of particles p and holes h, taking into account the en ergy dependence of the single-particle level density g(epsilon). We de monstrate the significant effects of the finite depth of the potential well (continuum effect) and the finite surface thickness of the nucle us on the value of omega(ph)(E).
