The syntheses and characterization of heterobimetallic 'early-late' co
mplexes containing the ((C4H9O)-C-t)(3)Ti unit combined with the fragm
ents [CpMo(CO)(3)], [Mn(CO)(5)] and [CpFe(CO)(2)] are described. [((C4
H9O)-C-t)(3)Ti-Mn(CO)(5)] crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P
2(1)/c, with a = 11.418(2), b = 10.631(2), c = 19.136(2) Angstrom, bet
a = 96.02(1)degrees and Z = 4. The electronic structures and differenc
es in stabilities of complexes -t)(3)Ti-Mn(CO)(5)],[((C4H9O)-C-t)(3)Ti
-Co(Co)(4)] and [((C4H9O)-C-t)(3)Ti-Co(CO)(3)PPh(3)] are discussed on
the basis of EHMO calculations.
