Yp. Kharitonov et al., COLLECTING NUCLEAR-REACTION PRODUCTS BY ADSORPTION FROM A GAS-FLOW INA SLIT CHANNEL, Nuclear instruments & methods in physics research. Section A, Accelerators, spectrometers, detectors and associated equipment, 365(1), 1995, pp. 208-213
Experimental results of collecting recoil atoms produced in reactions
with heavy ions are presented. The recoil atoms thermalized in gas are
transported by the gas flow into a 1 mm wide slit channel formed by t
he sensitive surfaces of radioactive decay detectors. Due to the adsor
ption from the gas flow it is possible to collect greater than or equa
l to 50% of the initial recoil atoms on the detector surfaces within a
time interval of less than or equal to 0.1 s.
