Kraft pulp was bleached with an aqueous solution of hydrogen peroxide
and sodium hydroxide at various concentrations in a batch reactor. The
effects of H2O2 and NaOH concentrations on the brightness and the kap
pa number of the bleached pulp were studied. The bleaching rate, in te
rms of the increase in rate of brightness, at H2O2 of 0.039 mol/l and
NaOH of 0.066 mol/l was expressed with first order reaction kinetics w
ith an activation energy of 29.4kJ/mol.
