The effect of cooling strips on single-frequency (controlled, forced)
transition in subsonic flow over a flat plate is studied. The maximum
value of the integrated growth rate (the N factor) of the instability
wave is used as a measure of transition. The effects of the cooling st
rip location, the length of the cooling strip, the flow free-stream Ma
ch number, and an isolated roughness element on transition location ar
e evaluated. Copyright (C) 1996 Elsevier Science Ltd
