Abstract
Hypotensive effect of a new long-acting preparation of diltiazem (alti zem) was studied in 30 patients with essential hypertension. The drug was effective in 83,3% of patients moreover its high hypotensive effic acy was demonstrated both in patients with diastolic blood pressures a bove and below 105 mm Hg. Pharmacokinetics of altizem was investigated in 12 volunteers. in patients-responders there was significant correl ation between hypotensive effect and concentration of diltiazem in blo od.
