This paper discusses 32 taxa which were originally described in the ge
nus Sticta, or referred to this genus subsequently, and which were col
lected from mainly tropical localities in the first two decades of the
19th century. The majority of species were collected by Bory de St-Vi
ncent and were either described by him in 1804, in a paper of Florke i
n 1809, or by Delise in his monograph of Sticta in 1825. Species descr
ibed by William Jackson Hooker in 1822 are also included since they ar
e referred to by Delise. All taxa are typified from authentic material
in BM, G, PC-LENORMAND and PC-THURET.
