In this paper, we report a study of circular dichroism in angular corr
elation between photoelectrons and Auger electrons emitted sequentiall
y from a free, gaseous, linear molecule whose rotational motion has al
so been taken into account. The outgoing electrons are observed withou
t their spins. The photon-propagation and electron-detection configura
tions, along with other conditions, have been specified wherein dichro
ic effects do not necessarily vanish in one-photon, two-step, double i
onization of rotating linear molecules. The analysis is presented in t
erms of both the state multipoles and the photoionization matrix eleme
nts. It is completely general and is independent of any particular dyn
amical description of the photoabsorption as well as Auger emission pr
ocesses.
