The Xe 4d photoelectron satellites have been studied in the photon ene
rgy region 90-200 eV. The substantially improved energy resolution has
enabled us to determine a wealth of satellites. A comparison of the s
atellite spectra at the intermediate excitation energies to the thresh
old-electron and the high-excitation-energy spectra shows the existenc
e of several kinds of characteristic photon energy dependences of the
Xe 4d satellite intensities. At the intermediate excitation energies,
the satellites due to final states of both the 4d(-1)5p(-1)np and 4d(-
1)5p(-1)md,ns (n greater than or equal to 6, m greater than or equal t
o 5) configurations occur.
