Lj. Francis et al., THE PROPERTIES OF THE LIPSITT SELF-CONCEPT SCALE IN RELATIONSHIP TO SEX, SOCIAL DESIRABILITY, NEUROTICISM AND EXTROVERSION, Personality and individual differences, 19(5), 1995, pp. 619-624
The Lipsitt Self-Concept Scale was completed by 802 16-yr olds, togeth
er with the neuroticism, extraversion and Lie scales of the Junior Eys
enck Personality Inventory. The overall reliability of the instrument
is supported among this age group. Regarding the construct validity of
the instrument, the data demonstrate that Lipsitt's implicit assumpti
ons regarding the nature of a good self-concept favour femininity, soc
ial conformity, extraversion and emotional stability.
