J. Ranansky et al., EFFECT OF A FUNGAL EXTRACT HOMOGENATE FROM BOTRYTIS-CINEREA ON TISSUE-CULTURES OF PAPAVER-SOMNIFERUM L - CHANGES IN THE ELECTRICAL MEMBRANE-POTENTIAL, BIOLOGIA, 50(4), 1995, pp. 431-436
A fungal extract prepared from Botrytis cinerea L. was tested towards
its possible effect on the membrane potential of poppy callus cells. A
lthough comparable low the membrane potential of poppy callus cells ha
s been shown to consist of two components (an active, and a passive on
e). In general the presence of the fungal extract caused significant d
epolarization of the membrane potential monitored by internal microele
ctrodes. It has been further shown that the fungal extract not only af
fects the active component of the membrane potential but also the pass
ive one especially if applied in higher concentrations. However, with
these results alone it is not possible to relate unambiguously the mem
brane potential changes to an effect of elicitation.
