Abstract
Nucleotide excision repair (NER) uses the products of about 30 genes t o remove a damage-containing oligonucleotide from cellular DNA. The tr anscription factor TFIIH is an essential component of NER, in man, def ects in NER can result in three distinct genetic disorders, whose feat ures can be ascribed to abnormalities in DNA repair or transcription.
