Abstract
The ''framework hypothesis'' for the pathogenesis of psoriasis is revi ewed. The premise is that there is an inherent defect in the skin of p atients with psoriasis that can be manifested as disease under certain stimuli. Supporting evidence, as reviewed, includes genetic and molec ular biologic information; the primary defect, however, remains undefi ned.
