B. Springer et al., MYCOBACTERIUM CONSPICUUM SP-NOV, A NEW SPECIES ISOLATED FROM PATIENTSWITH DISSEMINATED INFECTIONS, Journal of clinical microbiology, 33(11), 1995, pp. 2805-2811
A new type of slowly growing, nonphotochromogenic mycobacterium was re
covered from two patients with disseminated disease. The growth charac
teristics, acid fastness, and mycolic acids were consistent with those
for Mycobacterium species. The results of biochemical investigations,
lipid analyses, and comparative 16S rRNA sequencing showed that these
isolates represent a new slowly growing Mycobacterium species which i
s named Mycobacterium conspicuum.
