Abstract
A generalized Gibbs-ensemble methodology with a fluctuating particle i s used to determine the coexistence vapor-liquid densities for a squar e-well fluid. It is shown that the presence of the fluctuating particl e in sub-states of the Markov chain of states supresses considerably d ensity fluctuations which makes it possible to carry opt simulations e fficiently even for temperatures very close to the critical temperatur e.
