Ak. Jager et al., CYANOGENIC GLYCOSIDES IN LEAVES AND CALLUS-CULTURES OF SCHLECHTERINA MITOSTEMMATOIDES, South African journal of botany, 61(5), 1995, pp. 274-275
Leaf material and callus cultures of Schlechterina mitostemmatoides (P
assifloraceae), an endangered species from northern KwaZulu-Natal, was
screened for cyanogenic glycosides. Both leaf and callus material tes
ted positive. Extracts from both sources were further investigated by
thin-layer chromatography. This indicated that the callus culture prod
uced the same cyanogenic compound as the intact plant.
