This paper proposes an efficient UV source in the form of an L-shaped
pulsed xenon lamp with a quartz window, sealed into the elbow of a ben
t tube to anew the radiation to issue from the end of a long plasma co
lumn. An operating regime is implemented for which the lamp radiation
emerging through the optical window in the 210-250-nm spectral region
is close to blackbody radiation with a temperature of 15 300 K.
