The effects of composition and thickness of amorphous thin films of (A
s2Se3)(1-x)ln(x) (0 less than or equal to x less than or equal to 0.5)
on their optical properties have been investigated. Optical absorptio
n measurements showed that the fundamental absorption edge is a functi
on of glass composition, the optical absorption is due to indirect tra
nsition and the energy gap increases with x = 0.01 and decreases with
x = 0.05. On the other hand, the width of the band tail E(e) exhibits
the opposite behaviour. This behaviour is believed to be associated wi
th the compensation of hole traps as well as the generation of excess
electronic localized states. The optical band gap E(opt) was found to
be almost thickness-independent (100 less than or equal to t less than
or equal to 250 nm). Also, it was observed that the prepared films ar
e almost stable against gamma-doses up to 22 Mrad.
