Abstract
Two methods for the characterisation of mixed photon-neutron radiation fields are described and compared: 'fluence spectrometry', which dete rmines the particle fluence and its distribution in energy and 'dose s pectrometry', which determines absorbed dose in tissue-equivalent mate rial and its distribution in linear energy transfer or lineal energy. The relationships between these methods are shown and their potentials and limitations are discussed.
