Ma. Newman et al., LIPOPOLYSACCHARIDE FROM XANTHOMONAS-CAMPESTRIS INDUCES DEFENSE-RELATED GENE-EXPRESSION IN BRASSICA-CAMPESTRIS, Molecular plant-microbe interactions, 8(5), 1995, pp. 778-780
Purified lipopolysaccharide (LPS) from Xanthomonas campestris pv. camp
estris induced accumulation of transcript for beta-1,3-glucanase in tu
rnip at concentrations of 1 mu g/ml. The lipid A-inner core structure
was required for activity but the O-antigen had no role. We suggest th
at release of LPS in planta triggers expression of at least some defen
se-related genes.
