Abstract
Stratigraphic and structural data in the Ossa-Morena Zone (OMZ) and in the southern part of the Central-Iberian Zone (CIZ) show that: (1) th e main Variscan deformation event in the OMZ is Early Devonian in age to the NE, and Middle-Late Devonian in age to the SW. The deformation propagated towards the SW from the OMZ/CIZ contact. (2) The main defor mation event is Middle-Late Devonian in age in the SW border of the CI Z, and post-Early Carboniferous in age to the NE. (3) The main deforma tion event propagated from the OMZ/CIZ contact towards the NE and SW w ith opposite vergences on both sides.
