To compute turbulent hows a two-layer k-epsilon model is used. The com
plete model and its shear-based reduction are analysed. Moreover diffe
rent compressibility corrections are introduced in the compressible an
d in the shear-based versions of the model. Comparisons are made betwe
en the results obtained with and without these corrections. We obtain
the best results with the shear-based version of the two-layer model w
ith the Sarkar correction for the pressure/dilatation term combined wi
th the Zeman correction for the dilatational dissipation and using a g
radient closure model for the velocity/mean pressure gradient correlat
ion. On the other hand, the compressible version overestimates the wal
l fluxes, even when using compressibility corrections.
