BOVINE RENAL BIOPSY .1. TECHNIQUE AND COM PATIBILITY

This paper describes the technique for renal biopsy in bovines, Eighte en cows were subjected to a blind puncture with the Tru-Cut(R)-needle after sonographic localization of the kidneys, Another 16 cows were pu nctured under continuous sonographic control with the Biopty(R) shooti ng device. The specimens from the biopsies were compared for size and quality. The results of clinical and laboratory case control and patho logic-anatomic examination of the kidneys suggested that renal biopsy in cattle might be used as a diagnostic tool without major risks.
