New oxadiazole polymers for use in LEDs are reported that have high th
ermal stability and excellent film-forming properties. The characteris
tics of the polymers themselves and of heterolayer LEDs based on poly(
phenylenevinylene) that incorporate the polymers as efficient electron
transport and injection layers are discussed. The stability, operatin
g time and quantum efficiency are shown to be improved compared to mon
olayer devices.
