Abstract
Effective tailoring of pore sizes in mesoporous molecular sieves (see Figure) has been achieved by a novel method involving the restructurin g of the mesopores under mild aqueous conditions. A study is reported aimed at elucidating the underlying chemistry. It is suggested that fu rther investigation could provide insight into natural biomineral reso rption and lead to materials with enhanced biocompatibility characteri stics.
