Ps. Taylor et al., EMPOASCA-FABAE (HOMOPTERA, CICADELLIDAE) IDENTIFICATION AND POPULATION STUDIES WITH ALLOZYME ELECTROPHORESIS, Environmental entomology, 24(5), 1995, pp. 1109-1114
Various populations presumed to be potato leafhopper, Empoasca fabae (
Harris), were collected from various host plants and locations, and th
en electrophoretically assayed for 12 enzyme loci. There was no eviden
ce of genetic differentiation between populations. Small populations o
f E. kraemeri, E. erigeron, and E. compare perlonga were assayed. E. k
raemeri is a cryptic member of the fabae complex, and may occur togeth
er with E. fabae. Diagnostic alleles were found to distinguish between
E. fabae and the 3 other Empoasca species.
