Numerical integration of the two-dimensional time-dependent Schrodinge
r equation is used to study the dynamics of a negative hydrogen ion in
a strong light field. Analysis is performed within the framework of s
ingle-electron approximation. It is demonstrated that, for field stren
gths greater than the atomic field strength, the stabilization effect
can be observed. The results of simulation of photoionization for a on
e-dimensional model are compared with the results of calculations perf
ormed for various three-dimensional models of a negative hydrogen ion.
