Abstract
One of the most common surgical procedures in the United States today is the hysterectomy. Although many women have experienced symptoms tha t can interfere significantly with day-to-day functioning, they may he sitate to have surgery because of concerns about trading one set of pr oblems for another. The purpose of this prospective study was to inves tigate the difference in a woman's quality of life after having a hyst erectomy, including the incidence of depression and the effect of soci al support.
