Abstract
The Ca2+ complexes of PQQ-2,9-dimethyl ester and its iminoquinone deri vative have been synthesised and the reactivity towards alcohols exami ned; the oxidising ability of the quinone is significantly enhanced by binding Ca2+ and NH3, both of which are essential for quinoprotein me thanol dehydrogenase activation.
