Abstract
The turn-on delay jitter of single-mode semiconductor lasers subjected to optical feedback from a phase-conjugate mirror in short external c avities is studied. We develop a theory, validated by numerical simula tions, to obtain the turn-on time distribution. It is shown that the t urn-on time statistics are highly sensitive to the linewidth enhanceme nt factor. (C) 1995 Optical Society of America
