An ergonomic situation analysis was performed in preparation for the i ntroduction of new negative inspection and cutting workstations and th e addition of several efficiency enhancements. This paper reviews the physical and neurosensorial demands on negative inspectors and cutters and explores whether a cause-and-effect relationship exists between e quipment typically used and the discomforts and traumas that occur It proposes work situation improvements in human posture, equipment, work surface, environmental arrangements, and work processes.
