Abstract
Copper ion deposition behavior on Zircaloy cladding surfaces under sim ulated BWR conditions was investigated. The results indicated that Cu ion deposition rate on the fuel surface increased and deposited partic le size decreased as pH increased. Oxidation of Zircaloy, especially b y nodular corrosion, enhanced Cu ion deposition. The Cu deposits were concentrated on the nodular cracks. Copper ions were deposited in the form of CuO. They did not depend on iron crud coexistence.
