Abstract
Chromium hexacarbonyl reacts with pyridine-2-thiol (pySH) in refluxing acetonitrile to give the tris chelate complex fac-[Cr(pyS)(3)] by com plete removal of CO groups. The same complex is also obtained when CrC l3.6H(2)O is refluxed with pySH in ethanol in the presence of sodium e thoxide. The complex has been characterized by IR, FMR, mass spectra a nd elemental analysis.
