Abstract
Parthenin (1), the main constituent of Parthenium hysterophorus L., up on treatment with Ac2O-H2SO4 at room temperature rearranges to 4a. Sim ilarly, cyclopropyl derivative 6 reacts with Ac2O-H2SO4 to efford 8, w hile with H2SO4 it yields the dehydrated product 7.
