Abstract
A new chiral bis-sulfoxide ligand (S,S)-1,2-bis(p-tolylsulfinyl)benzen e (BTSB), which prossesses S.S-bidentate chelating donor atoms on an a romatic ring, was synthesized. Pd, Rh, and Ru readily gave adducts wit h this ligand. The crystal structure of PdCl2[btsb-S,S']. 2(C6H6) show ed that this ligand had C-2-symmetric S-coordination. Moderate asymmet ric induction was observed in the Pd-catalyzed allylic substitution us ing BTSB as a ligand.
