Some early steps in the development of an inter-disciplinary Mechatron
ics curriculum at the Ohio State University are described. More specif
ically, this paper reports on the mid-course results of an undergradua
te curriculum development grant funded by the National Science Foundat
ion(double dagger) Division of Undergraduate Education, and managed by
the authors of this paper. The aim of the grant is to foster the deve
lopment of an inter-departmental, inter-disciplinary curriculum in Mec
hatronics. The specific effort described in this paper represents only
a part of the educational and research activities in the field of ele
ctro-mechanical systems at the Ohio State University.
