Abstract
Binary asteroids have long been suspected to exist, yet only one has b een definitively discovered, and that was by space-based observations. None have been detected by ground observations. During 1982-84, 57 as teroids were observed a total of 179 times at the KPNO 4 m telescope b y speckle interferometry. No companions were detected. Upper Limits to the linear size of an unseen companion are given, along with upper an d lower Limits to the Linear separation of the unseen companion. (C) 1 995 American Astronomical Society.
