In solving the full potential equation, the least-squares technique pr
oposed by Glowinski, Periaux, and Pironneau [in Finite Elements in Flu
ids, Vol. 3, R. Gallagher, ed., John Wiley and Sons, 1976] provides a
robust and efficient approach. In this paper, this approach is investi
gated and a new algorithm is proposed. In particular, the upwind densi
ty technique is used instead and a very effective way of handling the
circulation is proposed. The whole approach is then extended for casca
de calculations.
